Frequently asked questions
Short answers about how the exam simulator works and how to study with it.
What is frontendprep?
frontendprep is a free frontend exam simulator with 1,200 timed multiple-choice questions across HTML, CSS, React, and a mixed Frontend track. You can run short practice quizzes (20 questions, 4 minutes) or stricter mock exams, track progress, bookmark tough items, and study with curated preparation tips.
Who is this site for?
It is built for students, junior and mid-level frontend developers, and anyone preparing for timed frontend knowledge tests, bootcamp exams, certification-style quizzes, or interview screens that use multiple-choice questions. If you need active recall under a clock, this app matches that format.
What tracks and levels are available?
There are four tracks — HTML, CSS, React, and Frontend — each with Beginner, Intermediate, and Advanced levels. Every level includes five practice quizzes (100 questions) plus a mock exam mode that randomizes questions from that level’s bank.
How does scoring and progress work?
Progress is stored in your browser (local storage). After each quiz you see a score, pass/fail against the pass threshold, and weak-area feedback based on missed topics. Results stay on your device; they are not uploaded to a server.
Is frontendprep free?
Yes. The quizzes, mock exams, preparation tips, and guides are free to use. The site may show advertisements to support hosting and ongoing content work. No account is required.
Why are there ads?
Ads help keep the question banks, guides, and hosting free. Ads should not block core quiz interactions. See the Privacy Policy for how third-party ad partners may use cookies or similar technologies.
Can I practice offline?
frontendprep works best online. Some assets may stay cached in your browser after the first visit, but question banks and updates still need a network connection.
What is a good study plan?
A practical plan is 2–4 weeks: Week 1 foundations on Beginner quizzes per track, Week 2 Intermediate plus timed sessions, then Advanced and mock exams while reviewing wrong answers. Rotate HTML, CSS, React, and Frontend so you do not overfit one topic. Use the Preparation page and Guides for strategy and topic overviews.
Are the questions and explanations accurate?
Questions are written to match common frontend exam and interview topics, with short explanations for each item. Web standards and React APIs evolve — if you spot an outdated detail, treat MDN and official docs as the source of truth and use the quiz as practice pressure, not as a replacement for documentation.
Do you collect my quiz answers?
Quiz answers, bookmarks, and progress stay in your browser’s local storage by default. We do not require login. Advertising partners (such as Google AdSense) and hosting may process standard technical data as described in the Privacy Policy.
Does it work on phones?
Yes. The UI is built for desktop and mobile viewports. Timed quizzes work on phones; a stable landscape or upright position helps when reading longer code snippets.
How are Guides different from Preparation tips?
Preparation tips are short, actionable cards you can skim between quizzes. Guides are longer articles that explain how to prepare, what each topic area covers, and how to approach timed frontend tests. Use both: guides for orientation, tips for daily drills.
